About

Alison Thorpe has studied art at multiple centres including University of Southern Queensland, Claremont School of Art, Fremantle Arts Centre and Tresillian Arts Centre.

Alison used to draw, paint and create from a young age, with her love of art further inspired by her high school art teacher John Garde, contemporary Australian artists including David Hinchliffe and David Bromley and artists from the impressionist and post-impressionist period. Inspired by a love of nature and the outdoors, Alison’s paintings reflect the peace and solitude encountered on a peaceful stroll, a weekend hike, cycling or at one of the beautiful beaches along our spectacular coastline.

The study of anatomy and the human body was an integral part of her University training as a physiotherapist which complemented a love of life drawing and study of the human figure.  Her paintings often include people who are active outdoors or on a journey through the landscape. On our journey through life, mindfulness, regular exercise and an active lifestyle are the mainstays of a healthy existence. These themes are at the essence of her role as a healthcare worker where she empowers people to regain function and maintain healthy lifestyles. Where better to be active than in Western Australia’s diverse landscape and how better to be inspired than a painting to take us on that journey.
